People Counting Event is available in intuVision VA’s Retail module.
People Counting detects when a person enters or exits the camera view through the user marked zone, with entry and exits labeled according to direction. People Counting is mostly used foot traffic in brick-and-mortar establishments such as stores, banks, fitness centers or public areas detecting people's ingress and egress in an area. In addition to counting the customers, People Counting is also used in the retail domain to track people moving from one area to other in a store; for understanding foot traffic flow.
Unlimited number of count zones can be used as small or broad as needed to count people at entry/exit doors or going to various areas. For stores in shopping centers, People Counting can be used to track where most people enter a store from such as directly the parking lot, side streets or other stores.
With intuVision VA's Occupancy feature, counts can be combined across all entrances and exits, to track number of people over time. Alerts can be generated if the store occupancy reaches above a set capacity level.
People count data is accessed through intuVision VA reporting, exported in CSV format or accessed through intuVision Data API for ingestion into other data management applications. Counts are saved within intuVision VA for 2 years by default, with the option to extend that duration. Comparison reports showing counts over different time periods such as week-to-week, month-to-month are available.
Using object classification, counts can be separated by category. In outdoor scenes, counts of people walking, on bikes or scooters can be tracked; or i indoors, guests with strollers, with pets or service animals can be counted or shopping cart usage can be tracked.
Optional settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:
When combined with compound events and unlimited object classification options, Person Count Event can be further refined, to meet custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time. For example, data can be ingested from a Point of Sale system, to be compared against customer counts - either in reports or with the average daily difference calculated.
