intuVision VA Event - Crowd Density

Crowd Density Event

Crowd Density Event is available only in the intuVision VA Security module.

Crowd Density detects when the object density reaches the user set level in a marked zone and stays at that level for the set duration. This event is ideal for detecting crowds gathering in camera views where it is hard to track people as individuals. Crowd density looks at overall activity in the region and the alarm density can be customized to each scene, setting levels for low, medium, and high, to declare the alarm points. A crowd meter overlay on the video shows the current density level at any given time, making adjustments easy.

For requirements where there is minimum movement within the crowd, Crowd Density leverages an unique intuVision VA algorithm called the Stationary Object Detector. This detector maintains objects which have come to a stop and stay at a standstill or meander slowly, meaning that even in low movement regions, such as a meeting place, or a subway, accurate Crowd Density readings are maintained.

Optional and advanced settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:

• Alarm Density slider, to select low, medium, and high crowd levels, along with the alert level.
• Minimum time for alert at a density alert, in seconds, minutes, and hours.

Crowd Density is a versatile event, perfect for monitoring very busy areas and large crowds. With alert times ranging from seconds, to minutes, to hours, it can be used to track crowd levels at train platforms, gathering protestors, or groups gathering for nefarious purposes.

When combined with compound events, Crowd Density can be further refined to be used for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time.
