Direction Event
Direction is a Core Video Analytics Event, available in all intuVision VA modules.
This is a widely used event in video analytics, alerting when an object travels in a specified direction for a user set duration.
Building on intuVision’s patented detection and tracking, Direction maintains the tracks of objects throughout their time in the scene, collecting detailed motion histories for each object. Direction Event alerts on the travel direction of objects, even in the case of people or animals where travel paths can be dynamically changing.
Settings include:
- Minimum travel time, to specify the duration travelled in selected direction.
- Directional tolerance, to set the discrepancy range around the selected direction; to allow for vehicles switching lanes while traveling in a general direction, or in case of person paths, which may fluctuate from frame to frame.
Direction is also a frequent building block in compound events to meet custom application requirements, due to its flexibility, especially when used with intuVision’s unlimited object classification and other event specifications.
Sample Use Cases:
- Basic use case –
- Requirement – Count vehicles going the wrong way on a one-way road.
- Solution – Direction event is used along roadway, using a zone to specify the region of interest.
- Used with compound events & classification –
- Requirement – Detect a person moving against the flow of traffic in an airport security exit, only when a crowd of people is exiting.
- Solution - Use a compound event to detect a group of people exiting, along with Direction to detect a person moving counter to the group path. Tie to audio alert to notify person they are travelling in the wrong direction.
