intuVision VA Core Event - Camera Tampering

Camera Tampering is a Core Video Analytics Event to alert when a camera view changes significantly or the camera lens is covered.

Camera Tampering Event

Camera Tampering is a Core Video Analytics Event, available in all intuVision VA modules.

This event detects when a camera view changes such as when it has been moved or blocked, or there is a significant degradation in video quality.

Camera Tampering detection provides assurance that all cameras in a system are operational and view areas as intended. Camera Tampering, used in conjunction with intuVision VA’s automatic Video Loss and Lighting Change notifications, ensures rapid intervention in the case of a problem with a camera or the system, whether malicious or accidental. As intuVision VA allows unlimited event rules within each application module, using this event does not incur additional fees, nor does it require compromising key functionality.

Using Camera Tampering is highly recommended in unattended sites, and sending event alerts to a Video Management System. As these sites are typically not monitored by a person, it can take some time before issues are noticed in case of a camera view is blocked or moved.

Camera Tampering alerts can be used with intuVision VA output triggers, such as email notifications – ensure the alert reaches the correct team.

Settings include:

  • Sensitivity, which can be used to adjust the tampering level at which intuVision VA should generate an alert. A high sensitivity will alert on partial occlusions, or noticeable degradation of video quality.
  • Minimum tamper time, the minimum duration for which the tampering has to be present to prevent alarming on temporary blockages, such as during lens cleaning.

Sample Use Cases:

  • High security facility, using intuVision VA to reduce task load for security team. Immediate notification of camera blockage indicates malicious activity or intruders.
  • Vehicle counting application, using intuVision VA unattended to collect long term traffic data. Since data is only examined once a week, email notifications in case of any view blockage or change of the camera view allow for quick intervention.
