Vehicle Counting is a data collection event available in intuVision VA’s Traffic module.
Vehicle Counting counts vehicles on roads and intersections to generate Average Daily Counts or Turn Movement Counts and origin-destination data. Using classification, counts can be separated by vehicle type, for example passenger vehicles, trucks, busses, motorcycles, etc. Traffic lanes can be used to separate counts by lane.
The vehicle counting zone consists of two active edges, vehicles pass over both active edges, in the specified direction get counted. This provides a more robust alternative to basic line crossing, maintaining tracked vehicles as they cross over count zone. Active edges can be placed close together for simple directional counts such as on a highway or placed further apart along vehicle entry and exit points at an intersection for turn counts.
Vehicle count data is accessed through intuVision VA reporting, exported in CSV format or accessed through intuVision Data API for ingestion into other data management applications. Counts are saved within intuVision VA for 2 years by default, with the option to extend that duration. Comparison reports showing counts over different time periods such as week-to-week, month-to-month are available.
Optional settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:
When combined with compound events and unlimited object classification options, Vehicle Counting Event can be further refined, to be used for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time. For example, Vehicle Counting used to track vehicles which enter and exit a rotary from the same point, counting the number of U-turns.
