Idle Vehicle Event

Idle Vehicle Event is available in intuVision VA’s Security and Traffic modules.

Idle Vehicle works with intuVision trained object classification to detect when a vehicle stays in one location for the user specified time.

In the security domain, Idle Vehicle Event provides protection of roads, day only parking lots, and private property from suspicious vehicles. Vehicles idling after hours can pose a security threat, especially in commercial building parking lots where it can indicate theft. Idle Vehicle can also be used in loading areas to track deliveries that take longer than usual and vehicles that are blocking loading docks.

In the traffic domain, idle vehicles detected in roads or along breakdown lanes can indicate someone in need of assistance or an abandoned vehicle. During high volume traffic periods, both can lead to traffic slowdowns, as well as potential accidents. Quick detection of these instances allows deployment of police or other forms of assistance, improving safety and preventing traffic blockages.

Please note that classification must be used in order to apply the event to only vehicles. Classification can also be used to differentiate between types of vehicles, for example not alerting on stopping school busses or mail trucks, but only on passenger vehicles.

Optional and advanced settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:

• Idle duration, in seconds, minutes, or hours.
• Maximum allowable object movement.
• Unlimited number of event zones can be used to select alert regions.

When combined with compound events, Idle Vehicle can be further refined, to be used for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time. For example, it can be combined with the Smoke and Fire Detector to detect an accident.
