intuVision VA Core Event - Idle Object

 

Idle is a Core Video Analytics Event to detect when a moving object stops and stays in one location for an user speficied amount of time.

Idle Object Event

Idle Object is a Core Video Analytics Event, available in all intuVision VA modules.

Idle event detects when a moving object stops and stays in one location for a user specified amount of time. intuVision VA Idle Object event leverages an unique called the Stationary Object Detector. This detector maintains objects which have come to a stop and stay at a standstill or meander slowly, alerting on them after the user set duration.

Optional and advanced settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:

  • Idle duration, in seconds, minutes, or hours.
  • Maximum allowable object movement to be used in case of people loitering.
  • Unlimited number of event zones can be used to select alert regions.

Idle Object is a versatile event used across many application areas, from loitering people, detecting vehicles stopped in breakdown lanes, shopping carts left in stores, to name a few. Using Idle Object event in intuVision VA’s compound events along with unlimited, user trained, object classification provides a building block for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time.

Sample Use Cases:

  • Basic use case –
    • Requirement – Alert on vehicles stopped in breakdown lanes for over 3 minutes.
    • Solution – Configure the Idle Object event using vehicle classification and event zones covering the breakdown lanes with an Idle Duration of 3 minutes.
  • Used with compound events & classification –
    • Requirement – Alert on people loitering around parked vehicles for over a minute.
    • Solution - Configure a compound event using Idle Object, with person classification to detect when a person is lingering for at least 1 minute around an occupied parking spot (Parking Spot Event).
