Origin/Destination Counting is a data collection event within the intuVision VA Traffic module designed to accurately track vehicle movements through intersections and rotaries.
Origin/Destination Counting detects, tracks, and counts vehicles as they enter and exit a scene. Each entrance and exit is labeled, allowing vehicle movements to be automatically classified by turn direction. For example, a vehicle entering from Smith Street and exiting onto High Street would be recorded as "Smith to High."
An unlimited number of entrances and exits can be defined. Users simply add zones, position them over each entrance or exit, and label them according to street names or travel directions. Vehicles are counted when they are detected within an entrance zone and subsequently exit the scene through a defined exit zone. Origin/Destination Counting can be combined with intuVision’s built-in vehicle classification - using either pre-trained or custom models - to further segment counts by vehicle type.
Origin/Destination data is available through intuVision VA’s built-in reporting tools, exported as CSV files, or accessed via the intuVision Data API for integration with external data management systems. Count data is stored within intuVision VA for two years by default, with options to extend retention. Comparison reports, such as week-over-week or month-over-month analyses, are also supported.
Optional settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:
When combined with compound events and unlimited object classification options, Origin/Destination Event can be further refined, to be used for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time. For example, it can be used to identify vehicles that enter and exit a rotary at the same point to measure U-turns, or to export data for generating origin–destination matrices in external analytics platforms.
