intuVision VA Event - Input/Output

Input/Output is a retail and security event that detects when an object crosses either active edge, in the specified direction.

Input/Output Event

Input/Output Event is available in intuVision VA’s Retail and Security modules.

Input/Output detects when objects enter or cross a user marked zone, in the specified direction. This event is ideal for tracking objects entering/leaving a region or when there is a specific area which needs protecting.

In the retail domain, Input/Output event is primarily used for monitoring renege percentages from cash register queues or alerting when customers enter employee only areas. Queue monitoring is an important aspect for all retail environments, with one common metric being the renege percentage – i.e. the number of customers who leave the register line because it is too long. Input/Output can also be used to detect customers reaching into display cases, or entering behind employee workstations.

In the security domain, Input/Output event can be used in airports to detect people moving against the required direction of travel or entering/exiting queues, climbing onto luggage carousels. For general intrusion detection, it can be used to alert on people entering without taking allowed pathways.

Optional settings are available to fine-tune the event, including:

  • Event zone with two active edges.
  • Alert direction for each of the active edges, which can be specified separately.

When combined with compound events and intuVision classification, Input/Output can be further refined, to be used for meeting custom video analytics requirements with our off-the-shelf product without the need for any development time. For example, in the healthcare domain, i/o event has been used to detect patients getting out of bed or an armchair without the nurse supervision; with an override input to disable the alert when a nurse is in the room. Offloading the task of patient monitoring from in-room nurse attendants, intuVision VA allows a reduction in man hours, while improving patient outcomes with earlier prevention.
