intuVision VA - COVID-19 Solutions

intuVision's flexible analytics provide reliable solutions to slow the spread of the virus by monitoring compliance with social distancing and face mask use preventative measures.

Video Analytics Solutions for COVID-19

This period of COVID-19 has caused massive adjustments in daily life, as countries and communities are taking precautions to protect people from getting infected.

intuVision VA’s analytics tailored for COVID-19 preventative measures can help with:

  • controlling the occupancy levels in stores,
  • watching for crowd density levels or loitering in public areas, and
  • monitoring face mask use in food stores as well as reopening offices and retail environments.

Depending on the use case scenario, intuVision's Review Application and triggers support a wide range of follow on actions upon detection of non-compliance.

intuVision VA’s Output Triggers offer such options as generating audio alarms to warn and remind customers of face mask use, controlling red/green status lights or an audio alert to control occupancy in a store, or notifying staff if an area is too crowded.

intuVision Advantage

intuVision VA's rich analytics across application domains makes it uniquely positioned to meet the varied demands of this challenging time, enabling control and enforcement of diverse measures from within a single solution. With flexible licensing covering all of our application modules, one can use the same system for occupancy, monitoring of face mask usage, crowd detection, and more.

Many of these analytics events, unlike other solutions, do not require a dedicated camera, instead any surveillance camera with a clear view of people traffic or faces can be used. Depending on height and look angle, cameras can be utilized for detecting other events as well, such as after-hours intrusion, objects left behind, etc.

Controlling the Occupancy Level

intuVision VA can monitor shopper entrance and exits from multiple doors without requiring manual counts. Using the real-time entrance and exit counts from multiple doors intuVision VA Occupancy analytics ensure the total number of people in the store in does not go above capacity.

Crowd Density Detection

As retailers struggle to remain open during this Covid-19 period, measures are taken to ensure that customers remain 6 feet apart, including queue lines with mandated stopping points, and "one-way only" aisles.

intuVision VA Crowd Density Monitoring can be used to ensure that people are spread out as mandated. Upon detection of non-compliance audio or visual alerts can be triggered to warn the customers.

Face Mask Usage Monitoring

intuVision VA Face Detection can help monitor and enforce face mask usage in public areas such as retail environments, banks, and post offices which are deemed essential and thus remain open during this time.

intuVision VA Face Detection can be used to detect people not wearing face masks, with ultimate flexibility in response actions after detection.

Wrong Way Detection

intuVision VA Wrong Way detects customers who are not following the marked directions; upon detection, the software generates warnings and alarms as well as logging instances of non-compliance.

Immediate action can be taken to remind customers, such as triggering audio alarms to warn and remind customers of correct direction of travel or triggering signage to flash.

Face Mask Usage Monitoring with intuVision Face

As part of our Covid-19 analytics, intuVision VA Face Detection has been customized to alarm on detecting a face without mask. Here in the United States, as well as around the world, many states are passing regulations requiring use of face masks to enter stores and other public places.

Detecting and warning people not wearing masks in public areas such as retail environments, banks, and post offices which are deemed essential and thus remain open during this time will help to decrease the spread of the virus significantly.

Depending on the use case scenario, output triggers can be used to enforce face mask usage from triggering audio alarms to warn and remind customers of face mask use, to sound a buzzer, even going as far as to interface with access control systems to lock doors, barring entrance to people not using face masks.

Deployment Recommendations

intuVision VA is easily deployed with any system, including ONVIF compliant RTSP cameras or with one of our integrated VMS systems. For best results, intuVision VA Face Detection requires face-level camera angles, though we feature higher flexibility than many other face detection systems on the market. Our ability to run a distributed system across Windows computers, means that the intuVision analytics can often be readily deployed without requiring additional hardware.

Business Occupancy Measure

Building upon intuVision People Counting, --our widely fielded solution providing counts up to 98% accuracy, as tested by our customers-- intuVision Occupancy can monitor shopper entrance and exits from multiple doors without requiring manual counts. intuVision VA combines entrance and exit counts from multiple doors and displays the total number of people in the store in real-time.

This functionality can be tied into an I/O device to control red/green status lights or an audio alert to ensure prompt guidance to customers. For example, a green light at the doorway indicating guests can enter the premise and flashing red light if the store is at full capacity. An audio message can warn a guest attempting to enter while the store is above capacity.

Deployment Recommendations

intuVision VA Occupancy solution, included our award-winning software, is ready to deploy with all ONVIF compliant cameras and major VMSs. The only requirement is a camera view with an unobstructed view of the people entering/exiting an area. We recommend ceiling mounted cameras (recommended minimum height: 10ft) looking down to the Entry/Exit area.

graph

Excellent camera view - directly top down and good separation between people - 95% or higher accuracy.

Modest camera view - not directly top-down, but high camera position to minimuze occlusions - 90% or higher accuracy.

Crowd Density Monitoring

intuVision Crowd Density Detector is ready to deploy solution for alerting if a crowd begins to gather or if customers are not following the social distancing guideline of 6 feet apart. Low, Medium, and High density levels can be customized to the camera view and different action triggers can be configured for each density level; such as at medium density level, an audio alert can be played "For your safety, we recommend you remain at a distance of 6 feet from other guests"; while at high density levels, a strobe light could flash along with an buzzer warning.

intuVision VA Crowd Density solution featuring our award-winning software, is ready to deploy with all ONVIF compliant cameras and major VMSs. The only requirement is a camera view with an unobstructed view of the areas to be monitored. Ceiling mounted cameras (recommended minimum height: 10 ft) looking down will provide the best results, as low camera angles can lead to occlusions.

Wrong Way Detection

intuVision VA Retail can help retail stores remind and enforce one-way only aisles. While the essential businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies must remain open, they need to implement safety measures to help stop the spread of Covid-19. One such measure is to specify store aisles as one direction only to maximize the distance between customers.

The alarm conditions and the follow-on actions for Wrong Way detection are fully configurable, not only with direction, but also distance and time travelled in the wrong direction. Depending on the use case scenario, intuVision's flexible output triggers and Review Application can be used to meet a range of customer requirements. Immediate action can be taken to remind customers, such as triggering audio alarms to warn and remind customers of correct direction of travel or triggering signage to flash. Data can be compiled and sent to store management to facilitate A/B tests of signage and providing data about which signs are more often ignored. Email alerts or text messages can also be sent to management to allow them to respond immediately.
